Mail has some nice integration with iCal, like the data detectors that make having iCal worth it. Girlfriend and I sync GCals which sync to both our iCals. In Google click on your "Settings" and then on "Calendars" and then click on the calendar you want to subscribe to. Look for the "Private link" and then copy the URL for the iCal link. Then open up iCal, select "Subscribe..." and paste in the URL. Wallah, you've subscribed to your Google Calendar.
