Inquisitor - nice addition to Safari

I mentioned before that I really like the Spotlight feature in OS X. Well, a friend mentioned that I should check out Inquisitor, a Freeware Spotlight like add-on for Safari.

It's about as simple as it gets - rather than typing text into the Google search box in the upper right and seeing the Google results page, you can see a preview of a few pages right there at the top.

One brief word of caution though; if you install it, make sure you are done with everything you have in your Safari tabs because without warning it shuts down Safari.

FYI... Safari has a nice feature to "reopen all windows [and tabs] from last session"

Its under the history pulldown.

If you are looking for more Safari add-ons, then look no further than pimpmysafari.com. They have pretty much everything out there, categorized and summarized.

If you like the spotlight feature on OS X, you should definitely download Quicksilver. By far my favorite program and the most productive program out there.

I have to second the Quicksilver recommendation... if you're more inclined to type a few keystrokes than grab a mouse and point and click (and it sounds like you are that type) then give it a whirl. You can do *anything*... open apps, control iTunes, add a calendar appt... it's really a remarkable piece of software. Absolutely indispensible... and no I'm not getting a comission from them ;-)

Some cool Firefox add-ons

For the last week and a half I've been trying out Firefox as my primary web browser. Back when I was a Windows guy I switched to Firefox because of the innovations it introduced and most importantly the extensions available for it. Now that I'm exclusively a Mac / Linux guy I figured I would check out the Firefox add-on market and see what's available. It's important to note that the web browser is more than just a device to view web pages. I personally do a lot of data entry through web pages, mainly with this blog. Since I use Blogger I end up composing these posts using the in-page editor. Obviously if you comment on this blog you will be using a simple text editing surface to enter your comments. This can extend further when you look at online products like those offered from Google, including e-mail, word processing and spreadsheets. A hardcore Windows guy gets a Mac

I have been a Windows developer for many, many years. Before I was a Windows developer I was a DOS developer. I've always been a Microsoft fan, heavily invested in doing Windows development. Really, since 1984 - my first job doing professional software development - I have been true blue Microsoft.
